Nancy Cobbs, a 44-year-old African American woman from Cleveland, Ohio, was last seen on April 24, 2009. Before her disappearance, she was known as an active mother of three. Nancy Cobbs was one of eleven women whose remains were discovered at the home of Anthony Sowell, a convicted
serial killer, in what became known as the "Imperial Avenue Murders." The bodies were found in and around Sowell’s residence in late October 2009, after police entered the home with a warrant related to a rape investigation. The discovery shocked the Cleveland community and drew national attention due to the scale and horror of the crimes.
Anthony Sowell, an African American man and registered sex offender, was arrested shortly after the bodies were found.
