In the autumn of 1994, the discovery of skeletal remains in a wooded area near a highway in Bridge City, just outside of New Orleans, brought a tragic end to the search for Stephanie Brown. The 28-year-old African-American woman's life was cut short, and the state of her remains indicated she had been deceased for some time before being found on October 19, 1994. The circumstances of her death pointed to a grim reality that was plaguing the New Orleans area during the early to mid-1990s.
