Sandra Cwik, a 43-year-old white woman, was found dead in July 1988 in Buckman Springs, California. Originally from Florida, she lived as a vagrant and struggled with drug addiction. She was also known to engage in sex work. Her death was determined to be the result of severe blood loss after she was brutally beaten. Investigators concluded that she had walked barefoot on rough roads for over a kilometer while bleeding, likely in an attempt to seek help.
