According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records, the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. while Garcia was working on a car behind a home on South Spring Street. During this time, he engaged in a brief conversation with a man in a vehicle. The conversation quickly escalated, and the individual in the vehicle shot Garcia.
