Ivana Waz, aged 48, tragically died on July 11, 2018, in Redondo Beach, California, in what authorities determined to be a murder-suicide. The incident occurred at the family's condominium on Esplanade Avenue, where police responded to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers discovered the bodies of Ivana, her husband Marc Waz, also 48, and their 13-year-old son, Makani. The coroner's report classified Ivana and Makani's deaths as homicides, while Marc's death was ruled a suicide.
