Jerry Dean Thomas, a 43-year-old white male, tragically lost his life on January 23, 1981, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was found strangled in the basement of his home, with the cord of a hairdryer used as the murder weapon. Thomas was the mother of a 12-year-old girl who had been the target of an attempted rape by their neighbor, Reginald Perkins, in December 1980. It is believed that Thomas had recently discovered the assault on her daughter, which may have been the motive for her murder.
