In the northern part of Las Vegas, on a Saturday night, the life of 23-year-old Joseph Deandre Jefferson, a Black male, was tragically cut short. On December 7, 2013, just before 10 p.m., gunshots shattered the evening calm near the intersection of H Street and Owens. Metro Police officers who arrived at the scene discovered Jefferson in the parking lot of a Family Market. He had been shot while inside a vehicle.
