Mary Louise Cannon, a 75-year-old woman, was tragically murdered in her home in Arcadia, California, on July 2, 1985. She was attacked while she was sleeping, and her assailant brutally beat and strangled her to death. Her home was ransacked during the attack, indicating that the perpetrator may have been searching for valuables. The crime was part of a series of violent home invasions that terrorized the Los Angeles area during the mid-1980s.
