Authorities arrested Mullin after linking the bullets found in the victims' bodies to a pistol discovered in his possession. Mullin was charged with multiple murders, including the deaths of Daemon Francis, his mother, and his brother. Mullin's actions were described as a “one-man crime wave,” and investigators suspected that he might have been responsible for additional murders beyond those for which he was formally charged.
