On June 5, 1977, the body of 22-year-old white female Ann Iecile Maxham was discovered in Skokie, Illinois. Maxham, who had prior convictions for prostitution, was found strangled, marking a grim end to her young life. Her death occurred shortly after the body of another woman, 31-year-old Martha Ryan, was found wrapped in a blanket near a liquor store in the same area. Both women were known sex workers, and their murders bore striking similarities.
