Alejandro Suarez, a 30-year-old man, was fatally shot in Humble, Texas, on January 20, 2025. Authorities responded to a shooting incident at a residence on Rebawood Drive, where they discovered Suarez suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel arrived shortly after, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident also claimed the life of 26-year-old Charity Freeman, who was transported to a hospital but succumbed to her injuries.
Investigators identified 34-year-old Yamil Javier Rivera-Perez as the suspect in the double homicide. Rivera-Perez allegedly forced his way into the home of his ex-girlfriend, Freeman, and opened fire, killing both her and Suarez. Authorities believe the attack was linked to a prior abusive relationship between Rivera-Perez and Freeman. Court documents indicate that Rivera-Perez was arrested and charged with capital murder. He was denied bond and remains in custody.
Freeman’s family revealed that she had recently ended her relationship with Rivera-Perez, citing concerns about abuse. On the night of the shooting, Freeman’s brother was present at the home and witnessed Rivera-Perez force his way inside before carrying out the attack. Freeman leaves behind two young children, who are now in the care of their grandmother. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting, with Rivera-Perez facing the possibility of life in prison or the death penalty if convicted.
