62-year-old Ricky Langs, a Black man from Fort Worth, Texas, was tragically killed in a suspected road rage shooting on January 27, 2025. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on the northbound service road of Loop 820, just before the Meadowbrook exit. Authorities responded to reports of a gray sedan blocking a lane and discovered Langs unconscious in the driver’s seat, suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso.
He was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Langs’ family members have expressed their grief and frustration over the senseless act of violence. His mother, Bobbie Wofford, shared her devastation, questioning why someone would take her son’s life without reason. His daughter, Shelby Johnson, described Langs as “the life of the party,” a man who was always well-dressed and brought joy to those around him. She recalled their daily video chats and the close bond he shared with his grandchildren. Johnson was expecting a message from her father that evening, letting her know he had arrived home safely, but instead received a heartbreaking call informing her of his death.
Fort Worth police are actively investigating the case, but as of now, no suspect or vehicle description has been released. Authorities initially considered road rage as a possible motive but are still working to determine the exact circumstances leading up to the shooting. Langs’ family is pleading for witnesses to come forward, emphasizing that someone must have seen something that could help identify the perpetrator. The community remains on edge as law enforcement continues its search for answers in this tragic case.
