On February 12, 2025, law enforcement agencies responded to a shooting incident on Gerry Drive in the Montego Bay subdivision of Hood County, Texas. Upon arrival, officers discovered a gunshot victim, later identified as Billy Sheffield IV, a 20-year-old white male. Sheffield was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Texas Rangers and the Hood County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation into the fatal shooting, leading to the identification of multiple suspects.
Authorities arrested four individuals in connection with the shooting. The suspects include Angel Morales, an 18-year-old Hispanic male; Alex Cisneros, a 17-year-old Hispanic male; Gabriel Ocanas, a 20-year-old Hispanic male; and a 16-year-old Hispanic male whose name was withheld due to his age. All four suspects were charged with capital murder. Morales was apprehended in Tarrant County on February 15, 2025, following a coordinated effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies. Prior to Morales' arrest, Cisneros, Ocanas, and the unnamed 16-year-old had already been taken into custody.
In addition to the four primary suspects, three other individuals were arrested for hindering the apprehension of a fugitive. Authorities have not yet disclosed the specific circumstances surrounding the shooting or the motives behind the crime. The investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement officials continue to gather evidence and piece together the events leading up to Sheffield's death.
