In the early morning hours of December 29, 2024, a passerby in Clarkston, Washington, noticed a car stopped along 13th Street. Inside was Floyd Edwin "Eddie" Parker, a 35-year-old Caucasian male. The witness saw the vehicle move a short distance before coming to a final stop. Upon checking on the driver, the passerby discovered that Parker was bleeding and immediately contacted dispatchers for help.
When emergency services arrived, they found that Parker had sustained three gunshot
wounds to his chest. A. 22 caliber handgun was discovered next to him in the vehicle. He was transported to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in nearby Lewiston, Idaho, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Following an investigation and an autopsy conducted by the Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office, the Clarkston Police Department concluded that Parker's death was a suicide. The autopsy determined the cause of death to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest, noting that two of the three wounds were not immediately fatal.
Interviews with family members and friends revealed that Parker had been struggling with the recent death of a close family member and his own health issues. His behavior in the days leading up to his death was described as concerning in hindsight. Evidence gathered from his home and vehicle, including an empty holster for the handgun found in his car, supported the conclusion that he had taken his own life. Law enforcement officials confirmed that his death was not connected to any other local homicide cases.
