Eddie Sanders, a man whose life was tragically cut short, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in his vehicle after a crash on Interstate 35 near exit 345 in Elm Mott, Texas, during the early hours of March 27, 2025. Authorities responded to the scene at approximately 3:30 a.m., where they discovered Sanders in critical condition. He was immediately transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Waco, but despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
The
McLennan County Sheriff’s Office launched an intensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding Sanders’ death. Through witness statements, digital evidence, and interviews, investigators were able to establish a timeline of events and identify a suspect. Later that evening, law enforcement officials executed a search warrant and an arrest warrant at a property located in the 15000 block of IH 35 North Frontage Road. At approximately 10:45 p.m., the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team arrested 63-year-old Bobby Doyle Getts on a charge of first-degree murder. A firearm believed to be connected to the shooting was also recovered during the search.
Getts was taken into custody and remains in the McLennan County Jail, where his bond has been set at $1,000,000. Authorities have not released further details regarding the motive behind the shooting or any additional suspects involved in the case. The investigation remains ongoing as officials continue to gather evidence and piece together the events leading up to Sanders’ death.
