On the evening of March 31, 2025, 24-year-old Hispanic woman Athziri Elizabeth Cervantes Buentello was fatally shot outside the Cinemark NASA and XD movie theater in Webster, Texas. She was accompanied by her 18-year-old cousin, Sherlyn Galvan, who was also killed in the attack. The incident occurred around 8:35 p.m. in the theater's parking lot and is being investigated as a double homicide followed by an attempted suicide by the suspect.
