Jodee Tribioli, a 51-year-old White female from Grantsville, West Virginia, was killed on the morning of December 28, 2024, when gunfire erupted at a residence off Pine Creek Road in Calhoun County. Online obituary information identifies her full name as Jo Dee Louise Tribioli and says she had been born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, before later living in Grantsville with her husband, Steve Tribioli. She was remembered as a devoted family member with a strong affection for animals.
Her death occurred only months after she and Steve had relocated to West Virginia and during what authorities described as a multiple-victim shooting at their home.
The Calhoun County Emergency Operations Center notified law enforcement of the shooting at approximately 8:28 a.m. Calhoun County Sheriff Graham Knight reached the property at about 8:59 a.m. and found Jodee and her aunt, Carole Heagy of Mount Gretna, Pennsylvania, dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Steve Tribioli and Claude Heagy, Jodee's uncle, had also been shot but were still alive. Steve had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, while Claude was wounded in the arm. Both were initially taken to Minnie Hamilton Health System in Grantsville and then transferred to Charleston Area Medical Center for surgery. Early reports described Steve's condition as critical and Claude's as stable.
The investigation was turned over to the West Virginia State Police after troopers arrived. Claude Heagy survived long enough to provide investigators with a crucial account of what had happened, identifying Noah Richard Tribioli as the shooter and telling police that Noah had entered the house that morning and started shooting the people inside. Noah was Steve Tribioli's son, and other reporting and family accounts identified him as Jodee's stepson. Authorities said he left the scene following the shootings, prompting the West Virginia State Police to issue a statewide Be On the Lookout alert for him and his vehicle.
The search ended later that day in Fayette County. Senior Trooper L. L. Cox located Noah near Hico, West Virginia, and took him into custody. State Police crime-scene personnel processed both the Grantsville property and Noah's vehicle as investigators gathered evidence. He was initially arrested and arraigned on two counts of first-degree murder relating to the deaths of Jodee and Carole, two counts of attempted first-degree murder connected with the shootings of Steve and Claude, two counts of malicious wounding, and two counts of attempting to commit a felony. Initial law-enforcement reporting said he was remanded to the Southern Regional Jail without bond, although other early court reporting described a monetary bail amount.
The criminal case remained unresolved throughout much of 2025. A special Calhoun County grand jury convened on December 3, 2025, and returned a ten-count indictment against Noah. The indictment charged two counts of murder, alleging that he unlawfully killed Jodee and Carole; two counts of attempted murder for the attacks on Steve and Claude; two counts of malicious assault arising from their injuries; and four counts involving the use or presentation of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The indictment represented formal accusations rather than findings of guilt.
By the time of the indictment, Noah had spent nearly a year incarcerated while awaiting further proceedings. His attorneys challenged the delay, arguing that the state had allowed two terms of court to pass without obtaining an indictment and had failed to provide the process required while keeping him confined. The defense sought his release or a reduction in bond. Prosecutors responded that the subsequent indictment cured the issue and argued that the murder charges made him ineligible for bail. Judge Anita Ashley sided with the prosecution on the bond question in December 2025, ruling that Noah was not entitled to bond and keeping him in custody.
Noah appeared before Judge Ashley on January 7, 2026, with appointed counsel and entered a plea of not guilty. The defense requested disclosure of the state's evidence, and prosecutors indicated that the case involved a substantial amount of discovery requiring review. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for March 5, with a trial date set for April 14, 2026.
