On the evening of April 7, 2025, at approximately 7:29 p.m., Austin emergency services received multiple calls reporting a shooting in the 300 block of Nueces Street. When officers from the Austin Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered an unresponsive Black male with apparent gunshot wounds. The victim, later identified as 39-year-old Tavon Brown, was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 8:17 p.m.
