On a late December morning in Kingsport, Tennessee, a discovery was made that would forever alter the lives of two families. Inside a residence in the 3100 block of Tiffany Court, 25-year-old Mikayla Lynn Sandusky and a 27-year-old man, Dillion Prater, were found unresponsive on the floor by a third party who had entered the home. The Kingsport Police Department was dispatched to the scene at approximately 8:36 a.m. on December 28, 2024, following a report of a disturbance.
Upon their arrival, officers and medical personnel confirmed that both Mikayla, a White female from Oak Ridge, and Dillion, from Johnson City, were deceased. Both individuals appeared to have sustained gunshot wounds. Investigators located a firearm within the residence, which was collected as potential evidence in the unfolding inquiry. The circumstances surrounding the tragic event are still under active investigation by the Kingsport Police Department.
Authorities have indicated that they believe this was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public. The bodies of both Mikayla Sandusky and Dillion Prater were sent to the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center at East Tennessee State University's James H. Quillen College of Medicine for autopsies to determine the official causes of death. As the investigation continues, further details are expected to be released as they become available. Mikayla was born on August 23, 1999, in Tucson, Arizona, and was a graduate of Hardin Valley Academy and King University.
