On January 1, 2025, 27-year-old Haitian-American woman Rodline Anacreon was fatally shot outside her apartment complex at 725 Villa Road in Springfield, Ohio. The suspect, 38-year-old Stanley Casimir, who was her ex-boyfriend and the father of their twin 5-month-old boys, called 911 shortly after the incident to confess to the killing. Casimir stated that he had returned to the apartment after being kicked out the previous night and shot Anacreon multiple times following an argument.
He also mentioned that Anacreon's mother and their twin sons were inside the apartment at the time of the shooting.
Witnesses reported hearing six gunshots and a woman screaming in Haitian Creole. Anacreon's sister, who was inside the apartment during the incident, informed dispatchers that Casimir had previously threatened to shoot her sister in the head after their breakup.
After the shooting, Casimir drove to a nearby Kroger parking lot, where he called 911 again, expressing intentions to "have some fun" before ending his own life. When police arrived, Casimir fled the scene, leading officers on a high-speed chase through Springfield. During the pursuit on U.S. Route 68, Casimir shot himself in the head while driving, causing his vehicle to veer off the road and crash near State Route 41. He was transported to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, where he succumbed to his injuries on January 3, 2025.
