Edith Moore, a 74-year-old African American woman, was tragically killed in a violent incident on January 4, 2025, in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. The shooting occurred at approximately 3 a.m. at a residence on Randolph Road. Authorities reported that Moore was fatally shot in the head during a robbery at her home. An 18-year-old male, who was also present at the scene, sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Investigators identified
multiple suspects involved in the crime. Amin Walker Jr., a 23-year-old male, was indicted on numerous charges, including aggravated murder, murder, aggravated robbery, and felonious assault. Walker was arrested on January 17, 2025, by the U.S. Marshals Service Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force. Another suspect, Mariah Graves, faced charges of murder, aggravated robbery, and obstruction of justice. Authorities also arrested a 16-year-old male, who was charged in juvenile court with aggravated murder, robbery, and other offenses. His case was later transferred to the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas.
According to law enforcement officials, Graves drove Walker and the juvenile suspect to Moore’s residence, where they carried out the robbery. During the incident, the 18-year-old male inside the house was shot in the leg, while Moore suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Cleveland Heights police arrested the 16-year-old suspect on January 7, 2025, while Graves' arrest date was not disclosed. Another individual was charged with tampering with evidence and obstructing justice for assisting Walker after the homicide.
Authorities described Walker as a dangerous individual, noting that he was a convicted felon on parole at the time of the crime. Law enforcement officials urged the public to provide any information regarding his whereabouts before his eventual arrest.
