In the early morning hours of February 2, 2025, a burst of gunfire shattered the night outside Tailgators Bar and Grille in Ridgeland, South Carolina, leaving a community in shock and a family mourning the loss of 39-year-old James 'Jimmy' Reynolds. The Bluffton man, a male, was fatally shot just before 1 a.m. at the popular billiards bar located at 1108 Argent Boulevard.
When officers from the Jasper County Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene, they discovered Reynolds, who had succumbed to his gunshot wounds. The Jasper County Coroner, Jeremiah Vaigneur, later confirmed that gunshot wounds were the cause of death. Fortunately, no one else was injured during the incident.
The investigation into Reynolds' death moved swiftly, aided by crucial video footage from the bar. This evidence was instrumental in identifying two brothers from Bluffton as the primary suspects. Less than three weeks after the shooting, on February 24, 2025, the Jasper County Sheriff's Office announced the arrests of 31-year-old Marquis Lenard Green and his 37-year-old brother, Curtis D'Rod Green. The arrests were the result of a collaborative effort between the Jasper County Sheriff's Office, the Hardeeville Police Department, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division Fugitive Task Force Team.
Marquis Green was charged with the murder of James Reynolds and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. His older brother, Curtis Green, faces a charge of accessory after the fact to murder, a felony that could result in a significant prison sentence. The swift apprehension of the two suspects brought a sense of relief to the shaken community, as the legal process to bring justice for the death of James Reynolds began.
