On January 31, 2025, Bernard Warren Joyce III, a 48-year-old African American man from Stoneville, North Carolina, was fatally shot during an altercation. The incident occurred around 12:45 p.m. in the 300 block of South Henry Street. Upon arrival, officers found Bernard Warren Joyce III in the front yard with multiple gunshot wounds.
