On the evening of April 30, 2025, law enforcement officers responded to a reported shooting at a residence on the 100 block of Highland Avenue in Church Hill, Tennessee. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of Joseph William Pennington, a 43-year-old white male, deceased inside the home. The Church Hill Police Department, in collaboration with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation initiated an investigation into the incident.
