On March 17, 2025, construction workers discovered the body of 46-year-old Juvar King on the rear porch of an abandoned house near the intersection of Chapman Avenue and Terrace Road in East Cleveland. King, a father and business owner from Warren, had been missing since February 4, 2025, when he failed to pick up his children from school. His family had offered a $10,000 reward for information about his whereabouts during the search.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office ruled King's death a homicide, determining the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the head. The day after King's disappearance, on February 5, his mother's 2007 Buick LaCrosse was found intentionally set on fire on the 9300 block of Sherwood Road in Cleveland. The vehicle had last been tracked near the intersection of Hayden and Shaw avenues in East Cleveland.
Nathaniel Crockett, a 28-year-old Cleveland resident with a criminal history including weapons offenses and aggravated robbery, was arrested and charged with arson in connection with the burned vehicle on February 20. Crockett was released on bond on May 2, 2025. While he faces charges for the vehicle arson, no charges have been filed against anyone in connection with King's death.
East Cleveland Detective Joseph Marche indicated that the investigation is focusing on key questions surrounding the victim's vehicle, particularly how Crockett obtained the car and from whom. The East Cleveland Police Department is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for King's death. The investigation continues with assistance from Cleveland Police, East Cleveland Police, and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
