In the late afternoon of January 28, 2017, events unfolded in a west Las Vegas valley neighborhood that would end in the death of 19-year-old Donavon Johnson, a young Black male. The situation began when a homeowner, away from his residence, noticed suspicious activity on his home surveillance system. He contacted a neighbor and asked him to investigate what was happening at his house. This neighbor would soon come face-to-face with Johnson in a confrontation that turned deadly.
