Donavon Johnson, a 19-year-old Las Vegas resident, was shot and killed on January 28, 2017, during an attempted break-in. The incident occurred near West Desert Inn Road, where Johnson was reportedly involved in suspicious activity, leading to a confrontation with a local resident. The resident, suspecting Johnson of casing a neighboring house, confronted him, and the altercation resulted in gunfire.
