In the early morning hours of October 13, 2016, a fatal encounter unfolded in the northeast valley of Las Vegas that claimed the life of 28-year-old Hispanic male, Daniel Villanueva. The incident, which began as a verbal argument, tragically escalated to a physical altercation and ended in gunfire. The shooting occurred around 6:15 a.m. outside a convenience store in the 6600 block of East Lake Mead Boulevard, near Hollywood Boulevard.
When police arrived at the scene, they discovered Villanueva suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The Clark County coroner's office later confirmed that he died from these injuries and ruled his death a homicide.
The investigation into Villanueva's death quickly led police to identify two suspects: Jordan Delgado, who was 19 at the time, and Victor Delgado, then 23. According to police reports, Villanueva had been involved in a dispute with the two men that precipitated the deadly shooting. Immediately following the incident, the suspects fled the scene in a small silver car, which was possibly a 2008 Mercedes-Benz. Authorities indicated that a third individual, the driver of the vehicle, might also face charges.
For several years, the suspects remained at large, and it was believed they had left Nevada following the shooting. However, in July 2019, Las Vegas police announced they had information suggesting that Jordan and Victor Delgado had returned to the area. Warrants for their arrest on charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder had already been issued.
A significant breakthrough in the case came in February 2021 when Victor Delgado Jr., then 27, was arrested. He was taken into custody by U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the Nogales, Arizona, port of entry as he was crossing from Mexico. At the time of his arrest, he was found to be in possession of guns and ammunition. Following his capture, he awaited extradition to Las Vegas to face charges related to Villanueva's murder. The other suspect, Jordan Delgado, was still being sought by law enforcement.
