On April 8, 2025, a tragic shooting in Fayetteville, North Carolina, claimed the life of 27-year-old Janaha Smith, a Black female resident of the city. The incident occurred in the early morning hours at approximately 3:15 a.m. in the 2800 block of Gillespie Street. Fayetteville Police responded to reports of gunfire and discovered Smith suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite emergency efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
