On the night of April 19, 2025, Concord, North Carolina police responded to a reported shooting at a residence on Princess Avenue Southwest around 10:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered 65-year-old African American female Miriam Renee Blue-Hopkins deceased from a gunshot wound. Investigators determined that she had been shot during a domestic dispute with her husband, 67-year-old Michael Hopkins. He was arrested at the scene and charged with second-degree murder.
