In the early evening of Thursday, January 23, 2025, the life of 30-year-old Sancarius A. Overstreet, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in Meridian, Mississippi. At approximately 4:54 p.m., the Meridian Police Department received a 911 call reporting gunfire in the 300 block of 45th Avenue. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Overstreet suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation into the violent death of Mr. Overstreet led to a significant law enforcement response. In the days that followed, the Meridian Police Department made a total of nine arrests in connection with the fatal shooting. This series of arrests marked a crucial development in a case that had deeply affected the Meridian community, as residents sought answers and accountability for the violence that had taken place. The authorities worked diligently to piece together the sequence of events that led to Overstreet's untimely death.

Among the nine individuals taken into custody, three faced the most serious charge. Branderious McShan, Jakobe Lee, and Anton Lee were each charged with murder in connection with Sancarius Overstreet's death. Their bonds were set at $1 million each. The remaining six individuals were charged with accessory after the fact, indicating their alleged involvement in assisting the primary suspects after the crime had been committed.
