On Sunday, March 16, 2025, 43-year-old Terrance Frost was fatally shot at the Georgian Court Apartments in the Midtown area of Kansas City, Missouri. The incident occurred in the afternoon at the residential complex located in the 400 block of East Armour Boulevard. Officers from the Kansas City Police Department were dispatched to the scene around 2:15 p.m. following reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, they were directed to an upper floor of the building where they discovered Frost lying unresponsive in a hallway outside one of the apartment units. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
Investigators determined that the shooting stemmed from an altercation between Frost and 64-year-old Mary McDaniel, a resident of the apartment building. According to court documents, McDaniel and Frost were known to each other, and she had previously allowed him to stay in her unit occasionally. The dispute reportedly began when McDaniel returned home and accused Frost of violating her house rules by having a female guest in the apartment. The argument escalated as the two moved into a bedroom where a firearm had been left on a bed. Both individuals allegedly reached for the weapon, resulting in a physical struggle during which the gun discharged, striking Frost.
Mary McDaniel was detained at the scene by responding officers. In interviews with detectives, she claimed the shooting was accidental and occurred while they were 'tussling' over the weapon. Authorities noted that both McDaniel and Frost were convicted felons and were legally prohibited from possessing firearms. A witness later told investigators that the gun had been purchased at a pawn shop in Raytown and given to McDaniel for protection.
Following the investigation, prosecutors charged McDaniel with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. She was booked into the Jackson County Detention Center and held without bond pending a court appearance. Frost, also known as 'Terry,' was remembered by family and friends as a social individual who enjoyed singing, dancing, and creating videos on TikTok. At the time of his death, he had recently secured employment at a local restaurant.
