On January 7, 2025, at approximately 12:10 p.m., officers from the New Orleans Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of North Galvez Street and Elysian Fields Avenue in the St. Roch neighborhood. Upon arrival, they discovered 38-year-old Geron Elzie, an African American male, unresponsive and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
