Richie Juan Briggs Sr., a 36-year-old Black male, was fatally shot on January 9, 2025, in Northeast Baltimore. Officers responded to the 5900 block of Daywalt Avenue around 3:10 p.m. after reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered Briggs suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Briggs' death marked the first homicide in Baltimore for 2025. Authorities have not released details regarding any arrests or suspects in connection with the shooting
