On New Year's Day in 2025, the quiet community of Northfield Township near Whitmore Lake, Michigan, was shaken by a violent intrusion that left two family members dead and another seriously injured. Seventy-four-year-old Stevie Ray Smith and his 48-year-old daughter, Jennifer Lyn Bernhard, were found shot to death inside their home on Nollar Bend Road.
