On the evening of February 6, 2025, a fatal encounter in Minneapolis led to the death of 31-year-old Hispanic male Roberto Julian Manzano-Gomez. In the 2400 block of 18th Avenue South, Manzano-Gomez was confronted by a group of individuals. Shots were fired at close range, and he sustained multiple gunshot wounds. First responders found him wounded at the scene and transported him to Hennepin Healthcare, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

captured the moments leading up to the shooting, showing four suspects walking in the courtyard of a residence and circling Manzano-Gomez before he fell to the ground. The suspects were seen fleeing the area on foot immediately after the incident. An investigation by the Minneapolis Police Department was launched, and authorities recovered 9- and 22-millimeter discharged cartridge casings from the scene. The case was determined to be a homicide.
The investigation led to the identification of suspects. A 17-year-old, Ryan Lewis Saice-Roy, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with Manzano-Gomez's death. Another individual, 19-year-old Quayzhon Demetrius Lewis, was also reportedly charged in the case. Prosecutors initially sought to have Saice-Roy tried as an adult. Five days after the shooting, Saice-Roy was allegedly involved in a separate series of violent crimes, and ballistics evidence connected the gun used in those incidents to the weapon that killed Manzano-Gomez.
In a later turn of events, the Hennepin County Attorney's Office dismissed the murder case against Ryan Lewis Saice-Roy in August 2025. Prosecutors stated that after further investigation and the emergence of new evidence, it was determined that the case could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Though the charges in the homicide were dropped, Saice-Roy still faced legal issues related to the alleged crime spree that occurred days after Manzano-Gomez's death. Police have stated that the investigation into the death of Roberto Julian Manzano-Gomez remains open and active.
