On the night of March 14, 2025, a burst of gunfire echoed through the 100 block of Orange Street in Springfield, Massachusetts, prompting a response from local police officers at approximately 10:50 p.m. Arriving at the scene, they discovered a male gunshot victim inside a vehicle. He was quickly transported to Baystate Medical Center, but the injuries he sustained proved to be fatal.
The man was later identified as 42-year-old Aubrey Wyatt, a Black / African American resident of Springfield.
In the days that followed, the Hampden District Attorney's Office confirmed Wyatt's identity and extended their condolences to his family and loved ones. A GoFundMe campaign organized to cover funeral expenses described Aubrey Wyatt as a devoted father, a loving son, and a cherished brother who brought laughter and warmth to those around him. Friends and family remembered him by his nickname, "Breezy," and spoke of his commitment to his family.

The Springfield Police Department's Homicide Unit is working in conjunction with the Hampden District Attorney's Murder Unit to piece together the events that led to the shooting.
