In the early morning hours of April 19, 2025, the life of 48-year-old Charles Richard Meile III was tragically cut short in what police are investigating as a homicide. A resident of Catonsville, Maryland, the male victim was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound in the 1100 block of Ingleside Avenue in nearby Gwynn Oak. The incident occurred shortly before 2:00 a.m., when Baltimore County Police responded to reports of a shooting.
Emergency services transported Meile to a
local hospital, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced deceased. Homicide detectives immediately began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Initially, the shooter was unidentified and remained at large, prompting police to ask the public for any information that could lead to an arrest.
Following weeks of investigation, on May 29, 2025, Baltimore County Police Homicide detectives announced an arrest in connection with Meile's death. Thirty-eight-year-old Benjamin Rowland was taken into custody and has since been charged with first and second-degree murder. Rowland is currently being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center. The investigation into the motive and the events leading to the fatal shooting remains ongoing.
