On a Monday evening in Catonsville, Maryland, the sound of gunshots pierced the air, setting in motion a tragic series of events that would end with one man dead and another injured. A nearby police officer, hearing the shots, quickly responded to the scene. He soon discovered a man running down the street, suffering from a gunshot wound to his back, and immediately arranged for his transport to a nearby hospital.
Further investigation led the officer to a car parked in the 7000 block of
Upper Mills Road, where a grim discovery was made. Inside the vehicle, 23-year-old James Wesley Cornish of Woodlawn had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene on September 15, 2014. The investigation into the shooting quickly progressed, and within a couple of days, two suspects were identified and taken into custody.
The Baltimore County Police arrested 20-year-old Jordan Nathaniel Jackson and 30-year-old Christopher Andre Williams, both from Baltimore. The two men were subsequently charged with the first-degree murder of James Wesley Cornish and the attempted murder of the second victim who had been found wounded.
