Giovannie Anderson-Bey, a 16-year-old male from East St. Louis, Illinois, tragically lost his life on January 18, 2025. His passing occurred in Belleville, Illinois, and was confirmed by the St. Clair County Coroner. The cause of death was determined to be gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced deceased at 9:57 p.m. at Memorial Hospital in Belleville.
Authorities responded to reports of a shooting in the 2400 block of Bond Avenue in East St. Louis on the night of January 18.
Initially, there was speculation that the incident may have taken place in St. Louis, Missouri, but after further investigation, it was confirmed to have occurred in East St. Louis, Illinois. Illinois State Police agents arrived at the scene at approximately 9:37 p.m., and a civilian transported Anderson-Bey to the hospital.
Law enforcement officials are actively investigating the case and searching for the individual responsible for the shooting. As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. Anderson-Bey is survived by his parents, Ronald Anderson-Bey Sr. and Miriam Patton, both of East St. Louis, as well as his siblings and extended family members. His funeral services were scheduled to take place at Grace Unlimited Community Church in East St. Louis on February 8, 2025.
