Mark Howell, a 27-year-old man from Woodridge, Illinois, was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting in Chicago's Douglas neighborhood on January 30, 2025. Howell was standing on a sidewalk in the 2900 block of South Michigan Avenue when a dark sedan traveling north opened fire, striking him twice in the chest. Chicago police responded to the scene, and Howell was transported in critical condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 4:39 p.m.
