In the community of Auxier, just outside of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, a violent altercation tragically cut short the life of Steven Farrow Adkins, a 48-year-old man from the area. The fatal encounter occurred on a Friday, leading to the arrest of another local man.
On that fateful afternoon, Kentucky State Police were dispatched to a shooting in the Auxier community. Upon their arrival, they discovered that Steven Adkins had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Investigators determined that Adkins had been involved in a fight with 67-year-old Larry Johnson when the shooting took place. By the time law enforcement arrived at the scene, Johnson had already fled.
The Prestonsburg Police Department later announced that Larry Johnson had been apprehended. He was subsequently charged in connection with the death of Adkins and was lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center.
