Faith Elizabeth Roberts, a 22-year-old woman from Saint Cloud, Florida, tragically lost her life on January 20, 2025. She was born on April 12, 2002, in Clearwater and was affectionately known as "Lu Lu" by those close to her. Her passing occurred inside her home, where she lived with her grandfather, mother, and stepfather. At the time of the incident, only her grandfather and herself were present.
Authorities responded to a shooting at the residence on Maryland Avenue near 3rd Street around 2 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Faith Roberts in the hallway near her bedroom with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Nearby, in a back bedroom, they found 20-year-old Angelo David Maldonado, also suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Maldonado was still alive when officers arrived but was later pronounced dead after being airlifted to a hospital.
Investigators determined that the incident was a murder-suicide. According to the grandfather, he had been asleep in his bedroom until around noon and was unaware that anyone besides Faith Roberts was in the home. He reported hearing her scream, followed by two gunshots, before witnessing her fall into the hallway. Maldonado, identified as an ex-boyfriend of Roberts, was found in the back bedroom with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and authorities have not reported any additional suspects or arrests related to the case. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy continues.
