Dominic Quant, a 50-year-old Latino male, was fatally shot on January 28, 2025, in the Del Rey area of Los Angeles. The incident occurred on a street, with authorities responding to the 11700 block of Avon Way, situated between Washington and Culver boulevards. The Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner confirmed that Quant succumbed to a gunshot wound to the abdomen. His death was officially pronounced at 9:37 p.m.
and classified as a homicide.
Surveillance footage captured the suspect leaving the scene after firing the fatal shot. The suspect, identified as 62-year-old Ronaldo Fabian Hernandez, was arrested the following day, January 29, on charges of first-degree murder under California Penal Code 187. Hernandez was arraigned on February 3, with his bail initially set at $2 million before being increased to $3 million. He remains in custody, unable to post bond. In addition to the murder charge, Hernandez faces a special allegation under Penal Code 12022.53 which pertains to the personal and intentional discharge of a firearm resulting in grave bodily injury.
Quant, known as "Dom Poniac," was a father of three—Zaliyah Jahzea and Mateo. At the time of the shooting, he had stepped out to pick up dinner for his children. His murder, caught on camera, has left his family devastated. In response, his relatives have launched a fundraiser to support funeral expenses, relocation efforts, and an educational fund for his children. The family seeks to move away from the crime scene for their emotional well-being and safety, as they currently reside near the suspect’s family.
Hernandez has retained attorney Tomas Requejo and has pleaded not guilty to both charges. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 24, where further legal proceedings will determine the course of the case. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting, while Quant’s loved ones mourn his untimely death and work to preserve his legacy.
