Enrique Sencion Adame was 34 years old when he died on Saturday, August 28, 2010, three months after he was stabbed on Sunset Boulevard in Echo Park. According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner, he died of stab wounds suffered in the 1600 block of West Sunset Boulevard. His death was ruled a homicide, and it is listed as a case of the Los Angeles Police Department's Rampart Division.
Coroner's spokesman Ed Winter told the Los Angeles Times that Adame was stabbed on May 28, 2010, at 2:10 a.m. He was taken to County-USC Medical Center, where he remained until his death at 12:04 a.m. on August 28. The official cause of death was listed as multiple organ failure due to multiple stab wounds. An early version of the Times entry gave a different address on Echo Park Avenue, based on preliminary coroner's information, and was later corrected to the Sunset Boulevard location.

Jeff Cortina of the Rampart Division said Adame was walking to a vehicle when someone approached him, and he was stabbed during an altercation with that person. A witness called police. In the weeks after the attack, Cortina said, Adame was in and out of consciousness and was unable to tell investigators what had happened to him. Detectives did not know whether the attack was gang-related, and no arrests had been made.
His son told the Times that his father was a great cook who loved sports and was a faithful Dodgers fan. "He was a great friend, son and brother...He fought long and hard to overcome his wounds for 3 months," he said. Those words are nearly all that has been made public about Enrique Adame's life. No obituary, memorial page or family fundraiser for him could be found. Enrique Adame is also a fairly common name, and searches turn up many other men who share it, in Texas, Orange County and Mexico, none of whom can be tied to this death.
Because so little was released, many questions remain open. The record does not say who the attacker was, whether the two men knew each other, what the altercation was about, or whether the witness who called police could describe the person. It does not say whether the attacker was alone or whether anyone else was nearby on Sunset Boulevard at that hour.
Echo Park is a hillside neighborhood just northwest of downtown Los Angeles, known for Echo Park Lake and its lotus beds and for its closeness to Dodger Stadium. Sunset Boulevard runs through the heart of the neighborhood, lined with restaurants, bars, small shops and apartment buildings, and it stays busy late into the night.
Homicides in Los Angeles fell steeply in the late 2000s and early 2010s, yet many killings from those years were never solved.
No arrest, criminal charge or court case connected to the death of Enrique Adame could be found in news archives or public records. More than 15 years later, there is no public sign that anyone has been held responsible. Anyone who was on Sunset Boulevard in Echo Park in the early morning of May 28, 2010, or who heard someone talk about a stabbing there, may hold information that could help. Even a small detail, such as a name overheard, a vehicle seen nearby or a conversation remembered, can help detectives move a case forward. Anyone with information can call the Los Angeles Police Department at 877-527-3247 (877-LAPD-24-7), or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
