Erik Colon, an 18-year-old male, was fatally shot in a triple shooting that occurred in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago. The incident took place on March 16, 2025, at approximately 3:26 p.m. on Crystal Street. Colon, along with two other individuals—a 23-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy—was standing outside a residence when gunfire erupted. Colon sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and right arm. Despite his injuries, he managed to transport himself to St.
Mary Hospital, where he was initially listed in critical condition. He was later transferred to Stroger Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on March 18, 2025. His death was officially ruled a homicide by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The other two victims also suffered gunshot wounds. The 23-year-old man was shot in the neck and groin, while the 16-year-old boy sustained a gunshot wound to his right armpit. Both individuals transported themselves to local hospitals before being relocated to Stroger Hospital for further treatment. At last check, the 23-year-old remained in critical condition, while the 16-year-old was reported to be in good condition.
