On September 17, 2011, 28-year-old Andre Swafford succumbed to gunshot injuries in Long Beach, California. The incident occurred on the night of September 14, 2011, when officers on patrol were flagged down by local residents on 9th Street and Walnut Avenue, pointing them to Swafford, who was lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but unfortunately, he passed away three days later.
