Luke Reynolds, a 32-year-old man, was fatally shot in North Hollywood, California, on February 15, 2025. The incident occurred in front of a business located in the 11100 block of Magnolia Boulevard, near Lankershim Boulevard, around 1:45 a.m. According to authorities, Reynolds was involved in a fistfight with multiple individuals before being shot several times.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The altercation reportedly began as a physical dispute involving several people. A bystander’s video captured Reynolds engaging in a fight with two men dressed in dark clothing near parked cars. The footage showed Reynolds landing a punch before being taken to the ground by one of the men, but it did not capture the moment of the shooting. After Reynolds was shot, the two men fled the scene in a vehicle.
On February 16, 2025, the Los Angeles Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with the killing. The suspect, identified as 46-year-old Carlos Meza, was located and taken into custody by the LAPD’s Gang and Narcotics Division, in cooperation with the FBI and the U.S. Marshals Service. Authorities have not disclosed where Meza was apprehended. Details regarding the second individual involved in the fight remain unclear, and investigators are still working to determine the circumstances that led to the violent confrontation.
Following the tragedy, mourners set up a makeshift memorial near the scene, leaving flowers and candles in honor of Reynolds. Friends and acquaintances described him as a kind and witty individual with an infectious smile.
