In the late hours of a Friday night in Cartersville, Georgia, a fatal encounter in a convenience store parking lot left one man dead and a young woman facing a murder charge. The deceased was identified as Jimmy Lee Morgan, a 65-year-old male. The incident unfolded on April 4, 2025, in the 100 block of North Tennessee Street, where officers responded to reports of a shooting just before 11:15 p.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered Morgan in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation quickly led to the arrest of 25-year-old Alleya Noel Henry. According to police reports, Henry herself had called 911, claiming she had shot a man who had run at her Jeep and attempted to climb in through the window. However, just moments before Henry's call, another 911 call had been received concerning a man, later identified as Morgan, who was reportedly making threatening statements and gestures. The first caller was able to drive away, avoiding a physical confrontation.
When officers detained Henry near the scene, they found a 9mm shell casing on the driver's seat of her vehicle, another shell casing in the center console, and a black semi-automatic handgun on the passenger seat. A black pistol case was also discovered on the floorboard. Based on the evidence gathered, Alleya Henry was taken into custody and subsequently charged with malice murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deadly shooting is ongoing.
