On April 7, 2025, Marlon López, a Nicaraguan man, was fatally shot in northwest Miami-Dade, Florida. The incident occurred near the intersection of Northwest 27th Avenue and 30th Street, where López was accompanying 27-year-old Venezuelan mother Jeankerly María Linares Marín to a food truck after her work shift at La Nueva Alameda restaurant.
