Olange Fenelias, a 79-year-old man from Fort Pierce, Florida, tragically lost his life on May 4, 2025, after being struck by a stray bullet. The incident occurred around 4:06 p.m. in the area of North 23rd Street and Avenue D. Authorities responded to the scene and found Fenelias with a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the location. Investigators believe that Fenelias was not the intended target of the shooting, as shell casings were discovered at a significant distance from where
he was struck. The crime scene was described as extensive due to the spread of evidence.
Fenelias’s wife, 63-year-old Facile Volcin, expressed her grief and frustration, stating that she wants the person responsible to be found and brought to justice. Volcin, who immigrated to Fort Pierce from Haiti over a decade ago, described her husband as a quiet and peaceful man who had no conflicts with anyone. Since his retirement, Fenelias had spent most of his time at home, only leaving for church. Volcin emphasized that her husband was not involved in any disputes and was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Authorities are actively investigating the case but have not yet identified any suspects or made any arrests. Fort Pierce Police Major Eric Chan urged the community to come forward with any information that could assist in the investigation. He noted that, as of now, no solid leads have been provided. Law enforcement officials are canvassing the area and seeking witnesses who may have seen or heard anything related to the shooting.
